Major infrastructure projects for the island of Kalymnos moved a step closer to implementation following high-level meetings in Athens between Mayor Giannis Mastrokoukos and the leadership of Greece’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy. The delegation also included ANEK Chairman Dimitris Maragkos and DEYA Kalymnos President Michalis Lelekis.
The municipal delegation met with Deputy Minister Stefanos Gkikas and the newly appointed Secretary General for the Aegean and Island Policy, Fotis Maggos, to discuss the progress of key development projects affecting the island.
Central to the discussions was the long-awaited new Kalymnos port, which, according to the municipality, has now entered its final phase following recent positive developments. The meetings also focused on strengthening ANEK and improving ferry services connecting Kalymnos with the rest of Greece.
The appointment of the new Secretary General was described as particularly significant, with local authorities expressing confidence that close cooperation will help accelerate strategic projects for the island.
