Panic ensued in Kalymnos when a 28-year-old man was found to be carrying a 79-centimeter-long sword in the most central point of the island on the evening of Wednesday, March 27.
Initially, the young man went to a supermarket holding the sword, which led to the local police department being notified.
Subsequently, he was found with the sword in the Parish of Christ and was immediately arrested.
An eyewitness and acquaintance of the 28-year-old spoke on the “LIVE NEWS” show on Mega.
“I noticed a sword placed on a freezer for ice cream. I didn’t pay attention, I continued my shopping, and when I went to the cashier, the saleswomen were already discussing a previous incident. Then, the ‘samurai’ entered while I was at the cashier to pay, he recognized me because I am a lawyer and I had handled some of his cases in the past and he approached me in a happy, somewhat friendly tone,” he initially said and added:
“We talked, there was no problem, no tension in the conversation, it somewhat turned into banter. Then he took his sword, and we left the supermarket. The sword was of the samurai type, it must have been handmade.”
