Manos Konsolas Calls for Action on Employment Contracts in Closed Controlled Structures
In a parliamentary intervention addressed to the Ministers of Migration, Interior, and Labor, Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas highlights the operational issues arising in closed controlled structures following the expiration of employment contracts under the Community Service Program DP14/2022. These employees were assigned to provide essential services in facilities accommodating irregular migrants.
Mr. Konsolas underlines that their presence is vital for the smooth functioning of these structures—especially now, as migratory flows are intensifying. He points out that this necessity was acknowledged by the state when it extended its contracts for two years on July 28, 2025.
“Given the current and potentially increasing migration pressure, the question arises as to the problems that will result from the expiration of these contracts and the inevitable understaffing of the closed controlled structures,” the MP stated.
At the same time, he calls on the government to consider further extending the duration of these community service contracts, noting that Law 5094/2024 provides the legal framework for extending such employment in critical sectors.
