Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas met with the Secretary General for Forests, Mr. Stathopoulos, to discuss fire prevention and flood protection projects in the Dodecanese islands.
Mr. Konsolas stressed that the €58 million available for such projects represent a major opportunity for local and regional authorities to submit proposals and strengthen the islands’ protection against wildfires and flooding.
The meeting included a review of key projects involving the restoration of burned areas, the creation of fire protection zones, interventions in public forest areas in Rhodes, Kos and Karpathos, the protection of important archaeological sites, and forestry works to address diseased trees, with a total budget amounting to several tens of millions of euros.
