A targeted First Aid training initiative was successfully completed on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the 1st Vocational High School (EPAL) of Kalymnos. The program was implemented by the Prevention & Health Education Office of the General Hospital – Health Center of Kalymnos “Vouvaleio.”
The initiative was carried out within the framework of the Ministry of Education’s “School Activities Programs 2025–2026,” under the thematic axis of Health Education.
Thirty first-year students actively participated in the training, attending the Panhellenic Health Education Program of the Hellenic Nurses Association (E.N.E.) titled: “Nurses educate… students, teachers and citizens SAVE LIVES.” Through both theoretical instruction and hands-on practical training, the students learned essential life-saving skills, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
The training was delivered on behalf of the Prevention & Health Education Office by Ms. Niki Georgakopoulou, Registered Nurse (University Education), MSc, SCPHN, PgDip(Ed).
Participants gained valuable knowledge and took an important step toward being able to respond calmly and effectively in life-threatening emergencies.
The Hospital Administration warmly thanks the administration and teaching staff of the 1st EPAL of Kalymnos for their excellent cooperation and hospitality during the implementation of the initiative.
Familiarizing the younger generation with the principles of First Aid is an essential step toward fostering social awareness and empowering young people to provide meaningful assistance to fellow citizens in emergency situations.
