Niki Reisi and Kalymnos Times visited “Hippocrates” for a conversation with Dimitris Geroukalis about new publications, identity and community.
Niki Reisi and Kalymnos Times visited the offices of the “Hippocrates” Addiction Prevention Centre in Kos on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, for a conversation with Dr. Dimitris Geroukalis, a neurologist, psychiatrist and scientific associate of the organisation.
Among the subjects discussed were the organisation’s new publications, including Giannis Patellis’s new book, “Kalymnos: A Story of Tobacco, Olives and Mandarins,” published by “Hippocrates.”
The publications draw their themes from the programmes developed by the centre. They bring issues explored through prevention activities to readers, creating another channel of communication with the wider community.
The publishing initiative places particular emphasis on identity and community: understanding oneself and feeling a sense of belonging. The publications seek to strengthen both, supporting individuals as members of a healthy society.
Reisi’s conversation with Geroukalis brought into focus the connection between prevention, reading and community life, centred on people and the bonds that connect them.
