From Meteora to Kalymnos: Professor Giannis Dimas Praises Maria Troumouliari, Head of Chorogenesis Cultural Association, Ahead of the “Meteora Stroll at the Port of Kalymnos”
University lecturer Giannis Dimas, a faculty member at the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science (TEFAA) of Trikala and director of the METEORA Dance Group of the Municipality of Meteora, spoke on July 2, 2026, to Stagon Radio about the upcoming cultural event “Meteora Stroll at the Port of Kalymnos,” scheduled for July 11, 2026.
The event is being organized in collaboration with the Chorogenesis Cultural Association of Kalymnos and the Municipalities of Kalymnos and of Meteora, creating a unique cultural exchange between the Meteora region and the Dodecanese islands.
During the interview, Professor Dimas made special mention of Maria Troumouliari, head of Chorogenesis and one of his former students at TEFAA Trikala.
He praised her as an outstanding student, highlighting her exceptional dedication and enthusiasm for Greek traditional dance. While still a university student, she became an active member of the METEORA Dance Group in order to gain broader experience and deepen her knowledge of Greece’s traditional dances.
Professor Dimas expressed his admiration for her continued contribution to preserving and promoting Greek folk culture and emphasized his satisfaction with the collaboration that will bring the traditions of Meteora to Kalymnos.
The cultural evening on July 11 is expected to offer residents and visitors a memorable celebration of Greek traditional music and dance, strengthening cultural ties between the two regions and showcasing the richness of the country’s living heritage.
