Eight modernization proposals for SEGAS by AS “Enosi Kazoni–Kalymnos 2000”
Athens, March 22, 2026 — The Annual General Assembly of SEGAS (Hellenic Athletics Federation) was successfully held today at the Grand Hyatt Athens, with participation from clubs across Greece. The Athletic Club “Enosi Kazoni–Kalymnos 2000” was represented by its president, Mr. Giorgos Roussos.
During the assembly, Mr. Roussos delivered an eight-minute speech, expressing full support for the SEGAS administration and its president, Ms. Sofia Sakorafa. He also presented eight concrete proposals aimed at modernizing the federation’s operations.
A key proposal focuses on the development of a comprehensive integrated information system (IIS), which would centralize all SEGAS functions and digitally connect all affiliated clubs. Additionally, he suggested abolishing paper-based records and replacing them with certified digital systems.
The proposals also emphasized the use of technology for the automatic recording and statistical processing of competition results, as well as the inclusion of the U14 category in the official statistical services of SEGAS.
Mr. Roussos further highlighted the need to support student-athletes from island regions, proposing full coverage of travel and accommodation expenses, along with the introduction of certified judges in school competitions to ensure international recognition of performances.
Finally, he proposed the inclusion of island sports clubs in the transport subsidy scheme and the establishment of a structured maintenance system for athletics facilities in cooperation with local municipalities.
These proposals underline the need for a more modern, digital, and inclusive development of Greek athletics, with particular attention to island communities.
