PASOK MP for Dodecanese, Giorgos Nikitiadis, emphasized in Parliament that Greece’s EU Presidency in the first half of 2027 is a national objective requiring a non-partisan approach. During the debate on the establishment of the “Greek Presidency Office,” he confirmed PASOK’s support for the bill, while calling for transparency and sincere dialogue from the government.
He recalled Greece’s successful 2003 EU Presidency under PASOK, highlighting Cyprus’s accession as a diplomatic triumph. Nikitiadis criticized the Prime Minister’s depiction of Greek-Turkish relations, urging honesty and preparedness on key issues such as foreign policy, security, defense spending, and the welfare state. He stressed that the 2027 Presidency is a matter for the nation as a whole, not just the government, and called for the development of a national strategy.
