Proposal by Manos Konsolas for the Installation of Defibrillators in Dodecanese Schools and First Aid Training Programs
The Member of Parliament for the Dodecanese, Mr. Manos Konsolas, has personally intervened with the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, Ms. Sofia Zacharaki, requesting that schools in the Dodecanese be selected for inclusion in the initial pilot phase of a program that includes the installation of defibrillators as well as first aid training.
The plan already foresees the placement of defibrillators in schools of all levels, along with the implementation of first aid training programs for both teachers and students.
This is a crucial step toward enhancing safety and the protection of human life within school environments.
The program will be funded by the Sectoral Development Program of the Ministry of Education, with a budget of €10 million, and the procurement of defibrillators will be carried out through an international tender.
Mr. Konsolas emphasizes that the remote island regions face challenges due to geographical discontinuity and understaffed public health facilities, which are two additional and substantial reasons to prioritize these areas for defibrillator installations and first aid education in schools.
