The Kalymnian insurance professional highlighted succession as a key issue for the future of insurance intermediary businesses.
Succession in insurance intermediation was the focus of Irini Chalkiti’s address at the 8th National Conference of Elected Insurance Intermediaries, held at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall.
Chalkiti, an insurance professional and member of the Dodecanese Chamber’s council, participated in the annual gathering, which brings together insurance intermediaries elected to chambers across Greece to exchange experience and develop proposals for the sector’s future.
The Dodecanese delegation included Vassia Moutafi, president of “ISCHYS,” the Dodecanese Association of Private Insurance Intermediaries, alongside Irini Chalkiti and Giorgos Vrouvas, representing both the Chamber and the association.
Drawing on her extensive experience as a Unit Manager at ERGO Hellas and her roles as Deputy Secretary of ISCHYS and a Chamber council member, Chalkiti presented proposals linking succession planning to business development and long-term viability.
Her central message was that passing a business to the next generation involves much more than transferring an insurance portfolio. It also means preserving client trust, longstanding relationships and responsibility towards policyholders, while ensuring that professional knowledge and experience are passed on.
She stressed that succession concerns both the future of individual insurance offices and the continuity and development of the wider sector.
Chalkiti thanked the Thessaloniki Chamber of Trades, its president Kyriakos Merelis and his team for organising and hosting the conference. She also thanked Giannis Georgiou Pappou for supporting the Dodecanese delegation’s participation.
EUROINS was the conference’s Gold Sponsor, while Groupama Insurance was its Silver Sponsor. The Thessaloniki, Athens and Piraeus Chambers of Trades participated in the organisation of the event, which was held with the support of the Union of Hellenic Chambers.
