On Friday, May 23, 2025, the President of I.S.E.K., Mr. Gerasimos Apostolatos, visited the Director of the Leros General Hospital (K.TH.L.), Mr. Stamatis Kardasis. The First Vice President, Mr. Georgios Krasonikolakis, Board Member Mr. Georgios Tsoukalas, and the Director of the Medical Service, Mr. Charilaos Baliakos, attended the meeting. They discussed the current issues facing the hospital.
The following agreements were made:
- The renovation of the five apartments will continue under the new administration and will be made available as an incentive to young doctors who come to staff the Leros hospital. The Commander informed them that the Municipality of Leros has decided to grant a €400 housing allowance to four doctors.
- All vacant permanent positions will be announced.
- A request will be submitted to the State, with the support of local Members of Parliament, for enhanced financial and scientific incentives—such as free postgraduate studies—for doctors who wish to pursue them.
We are hopeful that there will be a strong and productive collaboration with the new administration of K.TH.L. for the benefit of both citizens and doctors.
