A three-member felony appeals court imposed a total prison sentence of seven years on a 55-year-old man from Kalymnos for drug trafficking, recognising his subsequent good conduct as a mitigating factor, according to a report by Eleftheria Pellou in Rodiaki.
The man was found guilty of possessing and selling drugs. At his first trial in September 2023, he had received an 11-year prison sentence and a €7,000 fine, without mitigating circumstances. His appeal did not suspend enforcement of that sentence.
The case came to light on November 28, 2018, when police found a small quantity of heroin on a 49-year-old man who, according to the investigation, had obtained it from the convicted man. Investigators established that the 55-year-old used a relative’s home as a meeting point for drug sales.
Subsequent searches led to the seizure of 34 controlled medication tablets, 12.3 grams of powder of unknown chemical composition, €230 and a mobile phone, among other items. Proceedings against the 49-year-old were separated because he faced a misdemeanour charge.
