An on-site inspection covered the Pothia–Vathy and Armeos–Emporeios routes, with safer night-time travel as a key objective.
An on-site inspection with the contractor took place along the full length of the routes included in the “Lighting of the Provincial Road Network of Kalymnos” project, following the signing of the contract. The project has a budget of €3,684,698.19.
The inspection focused on assessing and identifying suitable locations for lighting poles as preparations move forward for the installation.
The project provides for a modern LED road lighting system covering approximately 19 kilometres across two routes:
- Pothia–Vathy, approximately 8.9 kilometres.
- Armeos–Emporeios, approximately 10.1 kilometres.
The new lighting aims to improve road safety and visibility after dark, while also enhancing the energy efficiency of the island’s road lighting infrastructure.
The plans also include complementary road signage and safety measures, intended to improve travel conditions along both routes.
