Proposed changes to upper secondary education and students’ educational needs took centre stage at a Communist Party of Greece event, featuring speaker Stelios Kriaras.
The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) held an event on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 7 p.m., in the ground-floor hall of the Kalymnos Cultural Centre, examining the proposed “new Lyceum” and National School Leaving Certificate.
Entitled “The ‘New Lyceum’ and the National School Leaving Certificate: KKE’s Answer to a School That Meets Students’ Modern Educational Needs,” the event focused on the future of Greece’s upper secondary school system.
Speaker Stelios Kriaras presented the party’s positions on the government’s proposed education changes, addressing their implications for students, teachers and families.
A central question was whether the proposed reforms would meet students’ current educational needs. Kriaras outlined KKE’s approach to schooling within this context.
The event was intended for students, parents, teachers and anyone interested in education. Contributions from the audience followed the presentation, continuing the discussion on the proposed changes and the role of schools.
