Trucks carrying bulky waste cannot access the site, prompting an appeal for cooperation from residents and transport operators.
The disposal of bulky waste in Kalymnos has been disrupted because the entrance to the island’s waste disposal site has remained closed over the past week, according to a municipal announcement issued on 8 October 2026.
As a result, trucks transporting bulky items cannot enter the site to unload them as intended.
The Municipality of Kalymnos says it is working to resolve the issue and restore access so that normal operations can resume as soon as possible.
Until access is restored, residents and transport operators are being urged not to leave bulky items in public spaces. The municipality warns that doing so creates uncontrolled dumping areas and harms the island’s cleanliness and appearance.
The announcement does not explain why the entrance remains closed or provide a timetable for restoring access.
The municipality says it will notify those affected as soon as normal disposal of bulky items becomes possible again, stressing the need for cooperation and responsible behaviour in the meantime.
