The news of the passing of Ioannis Halikos has filled Kalymnos and the Kalymnian community in Australia with deep sorrow.
Giannis Halikos always kept Kalymnos close to his heart. Despite his successful business career in Darwin, his bond with his birthplace was consistently expressed through acts of generosity and support.
He stood by the society of Kalymnos, supporting healthcare, education, and people in need. His donation for the new wing of Kalymnos Hospital stands as an important legacy for the island.
His loss leaves a void in his family, in the Greek diaspora, and in Kalymnos.
His memory and his contribution will remain alive on the island he loved so deeply.
