The Council of State hearing in the Municipality of Kos’s legal challenge concerning the transfer of waste from Kalymnos to the Kos landfill was postponed today, Tuesday, 29 September 2026, until 8 December 2026. The case remains pending, with no ruling on its merits. Today’s hearing date had itself followed earlier postponements.
Kos is seeking to prevent the landfill from receiving waste from Kalymnos. In its more recent decision authorising legal action, the municipality specifies that its challenge concerns only the provisions allowing Kalymnos waste to be transferred to and disposed of at the site. It is not seeking to shut down the Kos landfill.
