Five schools in the Dodecanese islands will undergo full renovation as part of the second phase of the “Marietta Giannakou” school infrastructure program, according to an announcement by Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas.
According to the press release dated May 8, 2026, the schools included in the program are:
- Soroni Gymnasium in Rhodes,
- the 2nd Primary School of Kos,
- Agia Marina Primary School in Leros,
- the Gymnasium and Lyceum building in Kasos,
- and Chalki Primary School.
Mr. Konsolas stated that he had submitted a parliamentary intervention two months earlier requesting the inclusion of Dodecanese schools in the renovation initiative.
The renovation works will be carried out by KTYP S.A. and will include interior and exterior painting, construction and renovation of restrooms, accessibility infrastructure for people with disabilities, upgrades to sports facilities, and roof insulation or repairs.
The projects are scheduled to take place during the summer so that the school facilities will be fully operational by the start of the new academic year.
