Manos Konsolas Calls for Reinforcement of Police Services in the Dodecanese Ahead of the Tourist Season
The need to strengthen the services of the Hellenic Police in the Dodecanese with permanent staff is highlighted in a parliamentary intervention addressed to the Minister of Citizen Protection by Dodecanese MP, Mr. Manos Konsolas.
Mr. Konsolas requests information on the Ministry’s planning regarding the staffing reinforcement of the Hellenic Police services in both the A’ and B’ Police Directorates of the Dodecanese, both at an overall level and per service.
As he notes, the start of the new tourist season brings increased policing demands across the islands, as well as additional responsibilities at airports and ports, particularly in terms of security and passport control.
The MP stresses that, beyond the presence of trainee police officers, there is a clear need for substantial reinforcement with permanent staff in services under both Police Directorates. The growing number of visitors, he points out, further intensifies the already demanding duties of police services.
At the same time, he highlights that in some police stations in the Dodecanese, understaffing levels reach up to 50%, making the immediate strengthening of Hellenic Police services an urgent necessity.
