Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas’ parliamentary intervention on strengthening EFKA services in the islands is yielding results, as local EFKA directorates in Rhodes, Kalymnos and Kos are expected to be reinforced with a total of 20 new staff members.
According to a written reply by Minister Niki Kerameus, out of 450 new permanent positions to be announced for e-EFKA, 4 posts are allocated to Rhodes, 3 to Kalymnos and 1 to Kos, while 4 additional posts have also been reserved to be distributed based on operational needs. In parallel, under a 12-month employment scheme for unemployed people aged 55+, EFKA will hire beneficiaries for support tasks: 4 in Rhodes, 3 in Kalymnos, and 1 in Kos.
Konsolas notes that he had highlighted the understaffing problem, stressing that fund mergers have increased service demands that island units cannot meet without additional personnel.
