Manos Konsolas, Dodecanese MP Nea Dimokratia

New Tax Relief Package
The abolition of the annual business levy for self-employed professionals in Greece’s regions, a reduction in advance tax payments and a series of measures supporting households were highlighted by Dodecanese MP Manos Konsolas following the Prime Minister’s announcements at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
“Behind the figures and the announcements are people who will benefit,” Mr Konsolas said, placing particular emphasis on the measures affecting self-employed professionals and businesses.
According to the announcements, the annual business levy will be abolished for self-employed professionals operating in the regions, while their advance income tax payment will be reduced immediately by 5%. Businesses will receive a corresponding annual reduction of 5% from 2028.
The Dodecanese MP noted that he had raised both issues with Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis through parliamentary scrutiny procedures last July.
Mr Konsolas also welcomed the extension of the ENFIA property tax exemption to settlements with populations of up to 2,000 residents, compared with the current threshold of 1,500. The measure is considered particularly relevant to small island and regional communities.
The announced package also includes a zero-income-tax provision for farmers and families with three children whose annual income does not exceed €20,000. Electricity bill charges for all household connections are also set to fall from €6.90 per MWh to €3.45 per MWh.
Further measures include an increase in the minimum wage and a corresponding across-the-board increase for public-sector employees, incorporating seniority increments and allowances. Employees’ social security contributions will also be reduced by half a percentage point.
Mr Konsolas said the measures would have a direct social and economic impact, affecting professionals, small businesses, employees, farmers and families across the country.
