Kalymnos has once again reached the highest step of the podium, as Maria Magkoulia was crowned the 2026 Greek champion in the women’s shot put!
The outstanding Kalymnian athlete claimed first place at the Greek National Athletics Championships in Volos with a throw of 15.35 metres, adding another major achievement to her impressive sporting career.
Through determination, consistency and hard work, Magkoulia once again confirmed her place among Greece’s leading shot put athletes. Her latest national title is not only a remarkable personal achievement but also a source of great pride for the entire island of Kalymnos.
Her coach, Giannis Barlis, has played a decisive role in this success. Working closely and methodically together, athlete and coach have continued to pursue—and achieve—their highest competitive goals.
