Citizen Information on the Outcomes of the Emergency Meeting of the Local Civil Protection Coordination Body (TESOPP) Regarding the Upcoming Severe Weather
The Municipality of Kalymnos informs citizens that today, Thursday, 27 November 2025, an emergency meeting of the Local Civil Protection Coordination Body (TESOPP) was convened to coordinate actions and measures for the upcoming severe weather expected to affect our area in the coming days.
During the meeting, the updated meteorological data were presented and all possible scenarios of extreme weather were examined, including heavy rainfall, gale-force winds and potential flooding.
The main points and decisions of TESOPP are as follows:
- Operational readiness of all services
All relevant services — the Municipality, Fire Service, Police, Coast Guard, Armed Forces and the Hospital — are on full alert for immediate response wherever needed.
- Inspection and cleaning of critical locations
Drains, streams and areas where water accumulation is usually observed have been re-inspected and cleared in order to reduce the risk of flooding.
- Equipment and response assets ready
Mechanical equipment (pumps, excavators, emergency response vehicles) is fully operational and ready for deployment.
- Safety measures for citizens
Citizens are urged to avoid unnecessary travel during intense weather conditions, secure any objects that may be blown away by strong winds, and not attempt to cross flooded roads or streams.
