On Sunday, January 28th, 2024 at 11.15 am, the annual memorial service was held at Agios Nikolaos Church in Pothia, Kalymnos to honor the memory of the three fallen officers of the Hellenic Navy, Christodoulos Karathanasis, Panagiotis Vlahakos and Hectoras Gialopsos for their bravery and ultimate sacrifice for their country at the Imia islands on January 31st, 1996. The service was conducted by the Metropolitan of Leros, Kalymnos and Astypalaia Mr. Paisios.
