The Municipal Authority of Kalymnos has responded to recent criticism regarding landfill management and a fire incident, through an official statement issued by the Mayor’s Office.
In the statement, the municipal administration accuses Giannis Galouzis of “distorting reality” and being absent from key issues affecting the island, arguing that his criticism does not reflect the actual situation. It also emphasizes that waste management remains a long-standing and complex challenge that requires continuous handling.
Referring to the recent landfill fire, the authority states that it remains “on the front line” in addressing such incidents, prioritizing public health protection.
At the same time, it rejects the accusations directed at it, describing them as politically motivated and lacking substance, while calling on Galouzis to demonstrate consistency in his public statements.
The municipal authority concludes that it will continue working with “planning and responsibility” to address local issues, while criticizing the stance of the opposition.
