A notable performance was recorded in Aegean athletics for 2025 in the men’s U20 long jump event.
Nikolaos Vasalos, representing Dromeis Syrou, achieved a jump of 6.91 meters, setting a new Syros U20 record during the Interclub U20 Championships of the Cyclades, held in Naxos on May 17, 2025. With this performance, he also claimed first place in the competition.
The athlete improved his previous personal and local record of 6.58 meters, which he had achieved at the same Interclub U20 Championships in Naxos on April 27, 2024, where he also finished first.
The Aegean U20 long jump record is currently held by Michail Mertzanidis from Lemnos, with a jump of 7.86 meters, achieved at the Panhellenic School Championships in Thessaloniki on April 23, 2005, competing for the Olympiac Structure – Thessaloniki Lyceum.
