Manos Konsolas, MP for the Dodecanese, submitted a parliamentary intervention stressing that it is a constitutional and self-evident obligation of the state to strengthen the Leros Hospital with doctors. The hospital currently lacks key specialties (cardiologist, pediatrician, radiologist), and further staffing issues are expected due to upcoming retirements.
Konsolas proposes:
- Giving priority to filling Leros Hospital’s vacancies in the 2025 healthcare recruitment plan.
- Including a separate and distinct number of positions for island and remote areas in the 2026 recruitment schedule.
- Reviewing and expanding incentives for doctors serving in island regions.
