During the Municipal Council meeting on March 27, 2025, prompted by questions from the Opposition, important issues concerning the local community were discussed. Based on the statements of the Mayor of Kalymnos, the following points emerged:
- School of Engineering: Work is ongoing, with the completion of the construction phase estimated in 2-3 months. The proposal for the procurement and installation of equipment has been accepted. In the meantime, first-year students will use the EPAL (Vocational High School) laboratories.
- Council Meeting Room: The need for a new space is recognized, as both the old and the current room do not meet the necessary standards. The issue will be discussed in the next Municipal Council meeting.
- Certification of Honey & Seafood Products: There are cooperation issues between the Regional Authority and the beekeepers of Kalymnos.
- Hospital Administration: It was noted that the former Director of Kalymnos Hospital, Nikolas Fanios, stated that his first choice was the Kos Hospital, and he was appointed to
- Return of Statues: A five-member committee has been formed and has submitted a related dossier to the Ministry of Culture. This committee of the Municipality of Kalymnos is also organizing a Short Story Competition as a new initiative for the return of the “Equestrian Ruler.”
