The adoption of remote voting brings new opportunities and challenges. Information and awareness among citizens are crucial to strengthening electoral participation and a healthy democracy. As of Monday, February 19, 2024, the electronic registration platform has been launched and can be accessed at epistoliki.ypes.gov.gr.
The purpose of this platform is to allow citizens to register for the special electoral roll for remote voting. Citizens may use this platform to vote in European Parliament elections and in National referendums. Eligibility to vote is based on electoral rolls in which Greek citizens have already registered, regardless if they reside inside or outside Greece.
In Greece, citizens register using their taxisnet credentials at epistoliki.ypes.gov.gr or Citizen Service Centers (KEP). Those living outside Greece may also use their taxisnet credentials or their passport information, identity card details, or population registry number.
The deadline for registering is Monday, April 29th, 2024. Election day is Sunday, June 9th, 2024 for the European Parliament elections. However, the remote voting ballots must be sent by Saturday, June 8th, 2024.
