School celebration for the Dodecanese Union anniversary at the 1st Primary School of Chora – Prodromos
A moving school celebration marking the 78th anniversary of the Union of the Dodecanese with Greece was held at the 1st Primary School of Chora – Prodromos.
Part of the event was based on the powerful testimony of Kalotina Reisi about the period of Italian rule and her experiences as a young girl, as recorded in the Istorima Archive. The testimony offered students and attendees a unique opportunity to approach the history of the Dodecanese through personal memories and lived experiences.
The event was organized under the guidance of the school’s principal, Antonis Alachouzos, while teachers Maria Platsi-Pougunia and Niki Psara were responsible for the preparation and presentation of the celebration, delivering a thoughtful and moving tribute to this important national anniversary.
The school event honored the struggles and sacrifices of the people of the Dodecanese for freedom and union with Greece, passing on the message of historical memory and national pride to the younger generations.
