Preparations Underway for the Feast of Saint Charalambos
Preparations are in full swing by the Holy Company of Saint Charalambos ahead of the Saint’s upcoming feast day. Members of the Company are preparing the traditional “gyristes” offerings in his honor, using a total of 50 kilograms of flour and 30 kilograms of honey, generously supplied by beekeeper Giorgos Nystazos from Skalia.
The initiative and overall support for the effort come from Mr. Giorgos Nystazos, while parish priest Michalis Boulafentis is supervising the preparations. The Most Reverend Metropolitan Paisios has offered his blessing, emphasizing the spiritual dimension of the undertaking. Father Athanasios Martinos, a friend of Kalymnos, is also present in support.
On the production line, particularly in the packaging section, valuable assistance is provided by Eleousa Louloudia from the Philippines. The initiative forms part of a broader effort to preserve local traditions and strengthen the religious and social bonds within the community.
We tasted the gyristes while they were still warm and soaked in honey — they were excellent, and the honey was of outstanding quality.
Congratulations to everyone involved. Wishing everyone well and looking forward to next year’s celebration.
