On April 26, 2024, the Environmental and Cultural Association “Kantouni-Linaria” at the Cultural Center of Kalymnos prepared an evening concerto of chamber music open to the public, co-organized by the Region of South Aegean – Kalymnos Prefecture and sponsored by the Municipality of Kalymnos.
Three distinguished instrumentalists and a highly acclaimed mezzo-soprano participated: Chrysanthi Spitadi, mezzo-soprano; Tania Sikelianou, violin; Yiouli Ventoura, harpsichord; and the President of the Association, Irene Govatsou, also on harpsichord. Niki Reisi presented the program. Emmanuel Yamaios gave an introductory speech about the Lament of the Virgin through Byzantine hymnography and folk poetry. Vice-President Fani Zervou and Secretary Eleni Tsoufa offered refreshments to the audience that filled the hall of the Cultural Center. It was a rare evening for our island.
