According to his statement, the bill covers debts that became overdue by December 31, 2024, and is expected to be voted on in the coming days.
A new plan allowing tax and social security debts to be repaid in 120 instalments, with a minimum monthly payment of €30, has been announced by Manos Konsolas in a press release dated October 30, 2026.
According to the statement, the proposed arrangement would cover assessed debts owed to the tax authorities and social security funds that became overdue by December 31, 2024.
Konsolas says the relevant bill is heading to Parliament and is expected to be voted on in the coming days. He presents the initiative as fulfilling government commitments and responding to the financial difficulties facing citizens.
The same bill, he adds, would introduce strict rules for loan servicers and funds, aimed at strengthening protection for borrowers who keep up with their repayment obligations.
The press release does not specify when applications would open or provide further details on eligibility and repayment terms.
