The hospital’s new Cardiology Clinic, its donors and the daily dedication of its workforce take centre stage in her statement on public healthcare in the Dodecanese.
Katerina Emmanouil, South Aegean Coordinator for New Democracy’s Secretariat for Children’s Rights, has highlighted the importance of Kalymnos Hospital’s new Cardiology Clinic while paying tribute to its staff.
In a press release issued on 8 October 2026, following Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis’s visit to the island, Emmanouil describes the clinic’s inauguration as an important addition to the hospital’s facilities and another step towards improving public healthcare on the islands.
She congratulates donors Katerina and Ilias Kathopoulis, the Ministry of Health and everyone who contributed to the project.
Her strongest praise, however, is reserved for the hospital’s administrative staff, doctors, nurses and other employees. She stresses that they support patients every day with professionalism, responsibility and compassion, often under difficult conditions.
“The people of Kalymnos Hospital do not simply give their best. They give their heart and soul,” she says, crediting the workforce for its daily contribution to healthcare.
According to her statement, the minister’s visit also provided an opportunity for meetings with local government representatives and community bodies at Kalymnos Town Hall and the island’s regional administration office. Discussions addressed local needs, everyday concerns and prospects for strengthening healthcare services.
Emmanouil emphasises that supporting public healthcare in the Dodecanese is a matter of dignity, equality and safety for every island resident. She concludes that residents deserve to feel secure in their own communities and calls for continued efforts built on consistency, cooperation and tangible results.
