The winter sales for 2026 are set to begin on Monday, January 12, and will run until February 27, with participation being optional for retailers. Businesses hope the sales period will offer some financial relief, as consumers mainly focus on clothing, footwear, seasonal goods, and electronic products.
Retail turnover in 2025 rose by about 5%, largely driven by inflation, while sales volume declined. Supermarkets show greater resilience, and e-commerce continues to gain ground, with online sales exceeding €19 billion. Total retail turnover is estimated to reach €75 billion by the end of the year.
