During High Fire Risk
An administrative fine of €2,075 was imposed on a foreign national on Kalymnos on Monday, August 3, 2026, for setting off fireworks.
The fine was issued by an investigating officer of the Kalymnos Volunteer Fire Station under the provisions of Fire Service Regulation 9/2024.
The use and discharge of fireworks are prohibited whenever the daily Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by Greece’s General Secretariat for Civil Protection places an area in risk category 3 (High), 4 (Very High) or 5 (State of Alert).
With high temperatures and an increased risk of wildfires during the summer season, the Fire Service is urging residents and visitors to comply strictly with all fire-prevention measures and avoid any activity that could spark a fire.
