The “Untouched Beaches” were established this year by law 5092/24 and yesterday were announced by the Ministers of National Economy and Environment, the 198 beaches of our country that have been included in the relevant protection framework.
Of the 198 “untouched beaches” introduced yesterday, 96 are located in our region, giving us the joy of progress in the matter of protecting the privacy and identity of our islands. The environment has risen to the top of international interest and poses the greatest challenge to the international community.
For us, in the Southern Aegean, environmental issues are opportunities for taking initiatives, action, and progress. In this direction, a wide range of initiatives are being undertaken, and we have set the bar at the highest level ever reached.
Giorgos Chatzimarkos
Governor of South Aegean Region
