“A Model of Cross-Party Cooperation – The Parliamentary Committee on Regions”
The Parliamentary Committee on Regions, along with its Subcommittees on Island and Mountainous Areas, has emerged as a model of cross-party understanding and cooperation, as confirmed during their recent sessions focused on reviewing their activity reports for the second parliamentary session.
Representatives from nearly all political parties who spoke highlighted the committee’s rich agenda and its role in bringing forward key issues related to regional development, as well as the specific challenges faced by island and mountainous regions across Greece.
The committee’s work—and in particular the leadership of Committee President Manos Konsolas—received widespread praise from across the political spectrum for raising critical regional concerns and for fostering a collaborative and constructive atmosphere.
Notably, the activity reports will be drafted with the participation of MPs from all parties, not just the ruling majority, signaling a new approach to the operation of parliamentary committees, based on inclusivity and mutual respect.
In his remarks, Manos Konsolas expressed his gratitude to all parties and MPs involved in the Committee and its Subcommittees for their contributions and for the spirit of cooperation that has been firmly established, crediting everyone equally for this achievement.
