Kalymnos Welcomes Its Children Home
Kalymnos honoured its diaspora community on Thursday, August 6, 2026, with the annual “Diaspora Celebration,” held in the courtyard of the island’s Cultural Centre.
Organised by the Municipality of Kalymnos, the event paid tribute to Kalymnians living abroad and to the enduring bond they maintain with their homeland, regardless of distance.
Greetings were delivered by Deputy Mayor for Culture Kalliopi Koutouzi, Mayor of Kalymnos Ioannis Mastrokoukos, the Vice President of the Pan-Kalymnian Federation Nikolas Kalouris, and Tarpon Springs Deputy Mayor Panagiotis Koulias.
The Diaspora Celebration remains an important institution for Kalymnos, bringing the island closer to those who live and work overseas. It is a gathering filled with memories, emotion and love for the homeland—a powerful reminder that Kalymnos continues to unite its people, wherever in the world they may be.
