The boats participating in the Aegean Regatta 2025 have set sail for Mytilene, where on the evening of Saturday, August 30, the curtain will fall on the international offshore sailing race with the award ceremony honoring the winners.
On Friday morning, the sailboats departed from Plomari heading to the capital of Lesvos for the 4th leg of the race, organized by the General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Island Policy, in collaboration with the Offshore Committee of the Hellenic Sailing Federation.
This leg, along with the 5th and final coastal race to be held off the coast of Mytilene on Saturday morning, will determine the final winners. Competition is fierce, with only Class 3’s “Dragon” having secured a clear lead.
The skippers and crews are showcasing exceptional seamanship across the beautiful Aegean Sea, making this year’s regatta once again a high-level event, thrilling both participants and residents of the remote islands.

Manolis Koutoulakis, Secretary General for the Aegean and Island Policy, highlighted the role of the Aegean Regatta in promoting the Aegean islands:
“Since its inception, the Aegean Regatta has been a brilliant idea that has grown into an institution. This year, once again, it showed its strength – starting from Myrina and continuing to Agios Efstratios, Plomari, and Mytilene. A fascinating route that allows us to enjoy the race while turning the sailors into ambassadors for our islands.”
