The North Wind: Ally of the Aegean Regatta 2025 – Results of the 1st Race
The first leg of the international offshore sailing race Aegean Regatta — from Myrina, Lemnos to Agios Efstratios — was completed with great success.
The northern winds, reaching up to 20 knots in places, helped the boats sail swiftly and allowed the first race to finish spectacularly and smoothly, with the sailboats covering most of the distance with their colorful spinnakers. The race is organized by the General Secretariat for the Aegean and Island Policy of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, in collaboration with the Offshore Sailing Committee of the Hellenic Sailing Federation.
The welcome ceremony for the crews, organized by the Municipality of Agios Efstratios, was outstanding — with souvenirs and local products offered to all the boats that entered the island’s harbor, a testament to the warm hospitality of the island’s residents.
On Monday evening, the awards ceremony for the first leg was held, where Emmanouil Koutoulakis, Secretary General for the Aegean and Island Policy, thanked the crews from Greece and abroad for participating, as well as the Mayor of Agios Efstratios, Konstantinos Sinanis, for the particularly warm reception.
Mr. Koutoulakis also emphasized the significance of the Aegean Regatta, which is taking place for the 24th time, highlighting its role in connecting sailors with the residents and traditions of the Aegean islands.
