The Reading Society of Kalymnos “Ai Mousai” has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of philologist Polyminia Theodoridou-Mami, a distinguished figure who greatly influenced the educational, cultural, and social life of Kalymnos.
Following the announcement of her death, the Board of Directors convened an extraordinary meeting to honor the memory of a woman who had served the Society as Secretary and whose contribution to the island’s intellectual life was widely recognized.
The late educator dedicated many years to teaching at the Girls’ Gymnasium and the 2nd Gymnasium of Kalymnos, earning respect for both her academic work and her social contribution. She was also the founder of the scholarship association “The Three Hierarchs,” through which she supported financially disadvantaged students, demonstrating her strong commitment to youth and education.
Known for her integrity, culture, and humanitarian spirit, Polyminia Theodoridou-Mami left a lasting legacy in the educational and social fabric of Kalymnos.
The Board unanimously decided to extend its sincere condolences to her family, attend her funeral service with an official delegation, and donate money in her memory to the scholarship association “The Three Hierarchs” instead of sending a wreath.
