The Kalymnos Port Authority was alerted during the morning hours following a report that a speedboat carrying foreign nationals had reached the northern coast of Pserimos.
A Hellenic Coast Guard patrol vessel was immediately dispatched to the area, where its crew located 13 foreign nationals—four men, two women and seven minors. They were safely transported to the port of Kalymnos.
According to statements given to the port authorities, the group had departed in the early morning from the Turgutreis area of Türkiye. After dropping them off on Pserimos, the speedboat’s operator reportedly headed back towards the Turkish coast.
The passengers also stated that they had each paid €7,500 for their transportation to Greece.
The Kalymnos Port Authority, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, arrested the individuals for violating Article 83 of Greek Law 3386/2005 concerning illegal entry into the country. According to the official information, they are due to be transferred to a Closed Controlled Access Centre on the island.
The investigation into the incident and efforts to identify the speedboat operator are continuing.
