When Rubble Becomes a Threat
ANAKEM S.A. has launched its first television campaign, delivering a timely message about environmental protection and wildfire prevention while highlighting the dangers associated with the uncontrolled dumping of construction and demolition waste.
Built around the slogan “Let’s put rubble where it belongs and place the lives and future of our children above everything else,” the campaign calls for a change in public behaviour and greater collective responsibility at a time when wildfires are affecting several parts of Greece.
According to the company, illegally dumping excavation, construction and demolition waste in the natural environment is not only unlawful but can also create serious safety risks. Waste abandoned in forests and other open areas may contribute to the outbreak or spread of fires, while blocked access routes can obstruct fire engines and hamper firefighting operations.
The television spot features well-known Greek actor Giorgos Giannopoulos alongside young Sotiris Odysseos. Directed by Grigoris Apostolopoulos, the campaign urges citizens to stop practices that damage the environment and to accept their individual share of responsibility.
Through the initiative, ANAKEM also expresses its support for communities affected by wildfires and its gratitude to the Hellenic Fire Service and volunteers working on the front lines.
The company stresses that the proper management of waste and the prevention of illegal dumping are important safeguards for the environment, infrastructure and public safety.
According to its published figures, ANAKEM operates Greece’s most geographically extensive collective alternative management system for excavation, construction and demolition waste. It is active in all 13 administrative regions of the country, covers 70 regional units and has a network of more than 250 cooperating waste-management facilities.
The company says it has managed more than 26 million tonnes of waste to date, recycling up to 95% of the material and converting it into certified secondary resources that can re-enter the production chain.
The campaign’s message is direct: rubble must be put where it belongs before carelessness turns it into a threat to the environment and human life.
