Stamatis Koutouzis held a press conference today, July 1st, 2025, at the ANEK offices to officially announce his resignation as president of the Kalymnos Shipping Company S.A. This comes a month after rumors about his resignation had been circulating on social media. He began with a retrospective overview concerning the vessel Nisos Kalymnos starting from October 2024.
Mr. Koutouzis stated that his resignation was not accepted by the Mayor, in response to a question from the representative of our newspaper. His continued presence in the position after submitting his resignation may lack legal validity, and his actions might be considered null and void unless the company’s articles of association explicitly provide for an exceptional procedure.
The Kalymnos Times representative also asked whether the new vessel being built in Lavrio had been paid off following the share capital increase. The response was that it had not been fully paid; approximately 5% remains outstanding for the shipbuilding to be completed. According to Mr. Koutouzis, this remaining work could potentially be carried out at a shipyard on the island.
What is clear, however, is a distinct reluctance for someone else to assume the presidency of ANEK. Otherwise, a replacement would have already taken over Mr. Koutouzis’ position, given that he submitted his resignation a month ago. President wanted.
