About the play:
A father suffering from dementia and his hysterical daughter struggle, in vain, to communicate. Each locked in their own emotional and psychological turmoil, they seek redemption.
The daughter has fully devoted her life to caring for her father. She visits him daily, takes full responsibility for him, and has completely set aside her own life. On this particular day, her father suffers an intense episode. He doesn’t recognize her. Clinging to a stopped clock, he repeats patterns and stubbornly denies reality: he denies his children, his former job, and his inability to care for himself.
Despite the daughter’s frantic attempts to bring him back to reality, he continually slips away—or at least that’s how it appears to her. Unable to cope with her own emotions or the already broken relationship with her father, she begins to spiral. In a moment of desperation, she even questions whether his dementia is real, screaming: “I don’t believe you! You’re playing a game!”
Trapped in victimhood, stuck in a past bound tightly to her father, she drags them both into a violent dance of memories, senses, and hallucinations.
Communication is a lost cause. Mutual understanding is absent. The ego of each character is so dominant that it leaves no room for connection. Dementia and hysteria move forward—sickly intertwined—stumbling both left and right.
There is no destination. They drift wherever the wind blows.
An afternoon. A delirious day.
A day like all others—where nothing changes.
Yet through it all: humor, laughter, tears.
One strange afternoon, father and daughter meet—eyelids closed, facing one another.
