Six consecutive rulings by Greece’s Audit Court regarding the Municipality of Kalymnos expose widespread mismanagement and improper spending, mainly during the mayoral term of Dimitrios Diakomichalis. Illegal payments were identified, including unjustified grants to associations, rentals, services, and foreign travel—all without contracts, approval, or documentation. While some penalties were reduced due to minor negligence or time elapsed, the Court made it clear: accountability for public funds remains intact, and unjustified expenses must be reimbursed.
