A significant educational initiative focusing on adolescent sexual and reproductive health is being carried out by the General Hospital – Health Center of Kalymnos “Vouvaleio,” as part of its public health promotion efforts and outreach to the local school community.
The action will take place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the 1st Vocational High School (EPAL) of Kalymnos and is addressed to students of the second grade in the Health, Welfare, and Wellbeing sector. The program is part of the approved National Thematic Axis of the Ministry of Health titled “Sexual and Reproductive Health.”
The initiative aims to provide accurate, scientifically grounded information on key issues related to adolescent sexual health. Topics will include the prevention and management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), the importance of vaccination, and modern contraceptive methods.
Through this approach, the program seeks to empower students to make responsible decisions, dispel myths, and promote mutual respect in interpersonal relationships.
The intervention will be implemented by a multidisciplinary team from the hospital, including nurse Niki Georgakopoulou from the Office of Prevention & Health Education, as well as midwife Irini Zagorianou and health visitor Sotirios Vagianos from the Family Planning Unit.
The hospital administration reaffirmed its commitment to prevention and education, investing in initiatives that strengthen knowledge and support the health of the younger generation.
Special thanks were extended to the school’s administration and teaching staff for their cooperation and hospitality.
