“The briefing delivered by the Ministry of Migration and Asylum on the tragedy in Chios was clearly inadequate and did not match either the gravity of the disaster or Parliament’s reasonable demand for proper information.
This creates a clear issue of ethics, morality, and institutional responsibility.
We are calling for the immediate appearance before Hellenic Parliament of the competent Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, so that there can be a full and responsible briefing on the actual facts.
It is necessary to safeguard the institutional credibility of Parliament and of the country—especially after a tragedy with an international dimension.”
